Community Outreach

toddlersOver the past 30 years, the Early Childhood Parenting Center has been the recipient of over 50 grants to help us further our mission of providing early childhood development programs to children and families, especially the under-served.

The center has been awarded over $60,000 from various foundations between 2007-08 to enable us to provide parenting services to at risk and homeless families. The following are the foundations that have supported us with these efforts:

  • Weingart Foundation
  • Robert E. Simon Foundation
  • Venbena Foundation
  • Angell Foundation

With funds received from the above foundations the center has worked closely in the community with the following organizations to deliver these needed services:

  • Gramercy Transitional Housing
  • Salvation Army Transitional Living Village
  • Upper Bound House
  • Santa Monica Housing Corporation; and
  • Mar Vista Family Center.

Preschool Consultation Project

Our Preschool Consultation Program is designed to serve a unique, developmental needs of each child and school. There are a menu of Services fit to serve both the staff of Early Childcare Centers and, the individual needs of a particular child 0-6.  We have found that a referral to a Developmental Consultant or to a child Development Specialist meets them multiple needs of parents and early childcare staff, therefore successful as a first step in resolving low level, but resistant developmental conflicts that require intervention.

Our program is flexible enough to serve as a transition to a referral for more intensive work, or the modality of choice for either brief or long term supportive family work. Our program offers the following services to Early Childcare Centers and their families.

  • Child Observations/Early Interventions/ Referrals
  • Parent Education classes (6-8 week series on a particular topic.
  • Warm – line for teachers- (confidential educational/support line)
  • Staff Training/Workshops

The Preschool Consultation Program provides all these services to families and  Early Childcare Centers in order to integrate both professional growth and emotional support. In providing multiple services for Early Child Care Centers; our main goal is to foster emotional and developmental support for families and meet all of their developmental needs. Our Clinicians are highly trained in 0-6 development and parent/child attachments. Our experienced interns working with them are from a variety of graduate institutes and together we work to serve and support many Early Childhood communities all over Los Angeles.
